We get it - life with kids is unpredictable. Whether it’s a last-minute work event, a weekend catch-up, or simply needing a break, finding a trusted babysitter in Auckland can be stressful, especially on short notice.

That’s why we’ve launched Caresies On-Demand. It’s a flexible new way to book experienced, fully vetted one-off childcare directly through your Caresies dashboard.

If you’ve logged in recently, you might have noticed a big yellow “Instant Booking” button - that’s your gateway to instant childcare help when you need it most.

What is Caresies On-Demand?

Caresies On-Demand is our brand new babysitting and nanny service designed for families who need one-off, reliable care but don’t want to have to post a job ad, wait for applicants, or do interviews.

Instead of the usual back-and-forth, you simply:

1. Click “Instant Booking” on your dashboard
2. Choose your preferred time and date
3. Select your Carer preferences
4. Let us match you with the best available carer based on what you need

We’ll then match you with one of the childcare professionals you’ve selected. If they aren’t available, we’ll let you know and provide some other options and suggestions. Once we’ve confirmed you’ll get a notification and can start planning!

Whether it’s for an evening out, a school holiday gap, a sick-day backup, or even overnight support, On-Demand gives you access to the kind of care you can trust – easily.

Available Now in Auckland

We’re starting small to make sure the experience is right. For now, Caresies On-Demand is only available in Auckland, with a select team of trusted local babysitters available across the city.

Each carer has been handpicked from hundreds of applicants, and every one of them is:

• Police vetted
• Reference checked
• Interviewed by our team
• Experienced with children (many are qualified ECE professionals)

Once your booking is confirmed you’ll be given the contact details for the Babysitter so that you’re able to plan in advance and let them know any important information.

How Much Does It Cost?

We’ve kept the pricing simple and transparent:

• Booking fee: $25 (incl. GST)
• Hourly rate: $35/hour (incl. GST)
• Credit card processing fee: 2%

In some cases, there may be surcharges (e.g. public holidays or high-demand weekends), but you’ll always see the full cost upfront before confirming.

Once your booking is confirmed, a pre-authorisation hold is placed 48 hours in advance, and the payment only goes through 24 hours after the booking ends. No cash, no awkward handovers — everything is done securely online.

FAQs for Parents

How quickly can I book someone? We recommend booking a few days ahead, but short-notice care is often possible within 24–48 hours. Same-day bookings might be possible too, but availability is limited - we’ll do our best!

What happens if no one is available? We’ll let you know quickly and suggest alternative times or options. You won’t be charged unless your booking is confirmed.

Can I choose a specific carer again? Yes! If you’ve had a great experience, you can request them again - we’ll do our best to make it happen, based on their availability.

What about overnight or weekend bookings? Yes! Carers are available evenings, weekends, and even overnight - depending on availability. The system is currently set up for one-off bookings, but if you want to set up something more regular, just email us at support@caresies.co.nz.

Can I message the carer before the booking? Yep! Once confirmed, you can message your carer directly via the platform or contact them by phone. It’s a great way to discuss routines, expectations, or any special needs.

What’s the cancellation policy? Cancel more than 24 hours ahead = no charge. Cancel within 24 hours = full booking fee and hours still charged.

This helps us ensure fairness to our carers, who reserve time in their schedules for confirmed bookings.
